Who am I?

The Self, I guess.

My name is Murielle Mobengo and I am a Poet. I compose both in English and French, my native language.

In 2007, a strange idea came to me while listening to Nirvana. Their songs conjured the same feelings in me than some of my favorite poems of Baudelaire. So, what if pop-music contains poetry? I started this blog to investigate this question through lyrical translation.

Beyond translation, this blog is all about the mechanics of transformation. It explores how a piece of language–written or sung– hightens our perception. Pop-en-poésie is an experience in alchemical poetry.

I am also the…

My first poem in English appeared in NYU Gallatin’s LR17 in 2019 and I am currently working on a bilingual Poetry collection.
